About the Faculty

Vision

a. The faculty of Education, Arts and Humanities continues the vision of UNTL that is to be the Center of Excellence for Higher Education in Timor-Leste.

b. The Faculty of Education, Arts and Humanities continues its own vision, which is to be the  Center of Excellence for training of professional and qualified lectures in Science, Technology, Arts and Culture.

Mission

a) Train and promote teachers with scientific knowledge of pedagogic to support the development of education in the areas of science technology, arts and culture.

b) To produce professional teachers in area of education.

c) Develop and promote scientific knowledge and technology through inquiry and research.

d) Guaranty and promote the implementation of science in community provide practical practice in community through the realization of pedagogical practice in the schools.

e) Train individuals with respectful to God, Nation, family others and environment.

Objective

The graduates from the study program will be able to:

a)  Make itself humanistic ally in its practice as a professional and citizen, intellectual flexibility, guided by ethics in its relation to the cultural, socio-economic and political context, inserting itself in the community to which it belongs;

b) Recognize and promote the social and scholastic integration of the different cultural and linguistic habits;

c) Develop a good relationship with students, guardians, community members and school personnel in order to promote the dignity of the school and the dialogue and communication between the actors in the teaching system;

d) Employ appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth;

e) Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own learning to identify, engage in and apply professional learning, individually and in collaboration with others;

f) Demonstrate ethical conduct and being sensitive and responsive to the needs of children, colleagues, families and the community.

History

The Undergraduate Degree of Education (L.Ed) in English Language Teaching has a fundamental goal to train qualified English teachers to teach in the third cycle of basic and secondary school in Timor-Leste.
